Custom Mixed Signal Sensor ASICs
A selection of custom mixed signal Sensor ASICs from Custom Silicon Solutions, including a Sensor Interface & Bar Display Driver, a Magneto-Resistive (MR) Position Sensor and a Piezoelectric Accelerometer Sensor.
Sensor Interface & Bar Display Driver
This custom ASIC converts an analog input into one of ten programmable ranges and displays the result on a 10 segment bar display. The input range is nominally 0V to 2.55V and is set by either an internal or external reference voltage. The voltage level for each range has a resolution of 8 bits and is stored in EEPROM. Display options include “Bar” or “Pointer” and can drive either LED or LCD type displays.
Features
Magneto-Resistive (MR) Position Sensor
This IC determines the angular position of a magnetically encoded disk. An adaptive, five channel IDAC biases five MR elements. The optimum bias and sense levels are determined by averaging the signals from four quadrature sensors. The circuit compensates for variations due to processing, temperature and supply voltage. This device has two quadrature outputs plus an index pulse to allow position, velocity and direction to be determined.
Features
Piezoelectric Accelerometer Sensor
This device detects linear and angular acceleration. It interfaces to three piezoelectric sensing elements. Each sensor has a dedicated amplifier and window comparator. Their gain and trip levels can be tailored for each application via onboard EEPROM. A sleep mode is provided to minimize power in battery applications.
